GOMBAK, 3 April 2016: ISLA 2016 has received positive response from the top management of the university as well as the student leaders of IIUM from various clubs and societies.
œThe idea of ISLA was initiated about five years ago but the serious process took place within the last three years,” Deputy Rector (Student Affairs), Datuk Dr. Mizan Hitam said.
“I came to IIUM during 2012 and at the beginning of 2013, we started to discuss ISLA and actually every tenure of SRC had done their own part in making this assembly a success as seen today.
Now, we have reached the first official step by endorsing the ISLA into the constitution and there will be a lot of things to be done after this,
He also mentioned that ISLA 2016 is a process of maturity for IIUM student leaders in polishing up their communication and thinking skills where they have been exposed to proper and right channel to voice their opinions and views through this assembly.
œIt is a great opportunity for us from different bodies and clubs in this university to give and share our opinion and to suggest solution to the problems we are currently facing in IIUM,” the President of Egyptian Society, Ahmad Muhammad Abd Wahab said.
œISLA is a very good platform for the student leaders of IIUM to voice out their views on any issue in this university because we are from various clubs and societies that actually comprehend what really happened in this university. Thus, by continuing to have ISLA in future it will enhance the quality of welfare and programmes of IIUM students, Vice President of Law Society (LAWSOC), Ahmad Fitri Abdullah said.
All the motions that have been endorsed through ISLA will be brought up by the current SRC 15/16 to the top management which is classified into three levels; University Management Committee (UMC), Senate and Board Governors of IIUM.***
