GOMBAK, 22 March 2016: IIUM Quality Day 2016 with the theme of Budi (Virtue): Our Value, Our Identity was recently held at Main Hall of Cultural Activity Centre (CAC) to celebrate the achievement of university staff for their excellence in providing quality services.
The ceremony held on 18 March was officiated by the President of IIUM, Tan Sri Dr. Rais Yatim, accompanied by the Rector of IIUM, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamaruddin. The event began with the recitation of Al Quran to bless the ceremony, followed by a powerpoint video presentation on IIUM Achievement and a speech by the President.
In his opening remarks, Tan Sri Rais emphasised the importance of producing quality work. He also expressed his hope for IIUM to produce graduates who have good quality as well as decent personality.
This annual event was conducted to acknowledge IIUM’s achievers who have contributed their time and energy to elevate the name of IIUM in the eyes of the world. Other than that, it was aimed to inspire other staff members to contribute more to IIUM.
The awards presented for this year were under the following categories: Best Journal Award, Best Teacher Award, Highest Citation in Citation-Indexed Journal Award, Ismail Al-Faruqi Publications Award, Quality Administrative Staff Award, Best Sports Achievement, Best Mahallah Award, Best Booth Award, Quality Customer Service Award, and Quality Agency Award.
In addition, a new award was introduced this year by Tan Sri Rais Yatim himself known as Anugerah Budi. This award is given to the staff who has applied and showed good ethical value in working arena as well as in daily interaction.
He said, “A good quality is reflected by having a high moral standard.”
He therefore urged everyone in the hall to practise good moral principles in daily life. ***
