GOMBAK, 3 March 2016: Five students from the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Law (AIKOL) brought back the honour to IIUM when they emerged second place in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court National Round Competition.

This time the Competition was organised and hosted by IIUM’s AIKOL and held at Main Moot Court, AIKOL.

The final round was between University of Malaya (UM) and IIUM which was held on 28 February.

The five IIUM members had gone through strict selection process for Moot Competition purpose before undergoing intensive training coached by Associate Professor, Dr. Mohd Hisham Mohd  Kamal, Associate Professor Dr. Juriah Abd Jalil (Moot Master) and Dr. Areej Torla (national administrator) after a written submission had been approved by the judges.

The hard work by IIUM team paid off beating Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), but lost to UM.

However, the captain of the IIUM team, Raja Nadhil Aqran Bin Raja Ahmad Aminollah, won Best Overall Oralist award, while Hazirah Binti Roslan, one of the IIUM team members, won Best Oralist award.

Said Hazirah, “I did not regret with the result because I did my best to win, but Allah did not let us taste the victory.”

She said this was because “Allah knows that I may not be able to cope with the pressure if we won, as we got to compete at the international level which will be held in Washington D.C.”

“But Allah did give me something meaningful with the Best Oralist title. This is because in the team, I consider myself the weakest member as I started from the bottom, but with passion, nothing is impossible.” ***
