GOMBAK, 16 February 2016: Some companies are going to check your Facebook account before they give you the job, said IIUM senior Counsellor, Saiful Redza Mohamed.
“If you do not have that, they consider you to be anti-social. If your profile picture is not your own picture they consider you lacking in confidence,” he added.
According to Saiful, it is a procedure for certain companies to assess their potential employees through social media. “They will predict your behaviour and the way you think through what you have shared on social media.”
“Students should be smart enough to decide what they want to share in public. They should already started showing their interest in the sector and occupation by doing a review or share the link related to that in their own social media. This will boost their confidence in wanting to appoint you as part of them,” said Saiful.
He added that the company would avoid appointing those who are overly social. It is therefore important to keep the good name of the company and ensure that the company’s secrets will be protected.***
