POLICING is such that if it is to prevent crimes completely, there would be a need for intense police presence everywhere. However, it is ludicrous to even imagine a ratio of one police personnel to every one thousand Malaysians. And yet, reality shows that too many Malaysians will just not abide by the law when they think they can get away with it, especially on the roads, where even at the best of times bedlam reigns. Surely, every decent driver will have an anecdote of encountering maniacs on the roads driving at speed and changing lanes at will. Dangerous drivers will just not go away despite threats of licence suspension, and worse, a driving ban. The reason for this is obvious; most feel that they can get away without being discovered because they know to behave where there are police cameras.
