Heritage is from the past but it is very much of the present. We look at old buildings and know that it is part of the narrative of our being, we keep old ways because they tie us to a tradition, and traditions give us strength. We preserve the old market place not only because it represents an old, simpler way of life but also because it has been and always will be part of the community and there is no other place in the world that can be quite the same.
