Prominent speakers share valuable views at Leadership Symposium

GOMBAK,  29 October 2015:  Six prominent speakers from different fields shared their valuable views and experiences with university students and youths at the National Leadership Symposium 2015 held in IIUM campus for three days from 23 to 25 October.

On the first day, a talk under the theme “Public Policy: Replicating Best Practices for Sustainable Living” was delivered by the Royal Prince of Negeri Sembilan, Tunku Zain Al- Abidin ibni Tunku Muhriz, who was the founding President of Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS). Former President of UN Security Council, Tan Sri Razali Ismail, earlier gave a keynote address.

On the second day (24 Oct 2015), three speakers delivered their talks.

The first session began with a presentation by a producer at BFM 89.9, Umapagan Ampikaipakan, who is also a content creator at Popteevee, on “The Role of New Media in Shaping the Ideal Malaysian.”

This was followed by a presentation by James Tanabe, a consultant of Mckinsey and Co. and former art director of Cirque de Solail, on the topic “Impact of Leadership and Sustainability Planning.”

Another speaker on that day was Edmund Bon, head of Chambers BON Advocates and founder of UndiMsia who spoke on “Activism and Human Rights.”

On the last day (25 Oct 2015), former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AirAsia and presently the CEO of iFlix, Azran Osman Rani, delivered a talk on the topic “Innovation in Entrepreneurship in Rising Up to The Challenge.”

Held under the United Nations Association of Malaysia (UNAM) Youth, the symposium took place at the Main Auditorium organised by IIUM MUN Club. The participants at the symposium were students from various institutions of higher learning, including IIUM. Among them were students from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Taylor University, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Sunway University and Garden International School.***
