Building a digital workforce

Extending the reach of the digital economy is the objective of the eRezeki initiative. Launched last June, it is now being built into the 2016 Budget as a means to raise the income of the B40 group ” low- income households of RM3,000 and less per month. A RM100 million budget allocation administered by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia was made œto increase employment opportunities for the B40 group. The ministry will have to expand the service further building on the currently very limited centres where those interested can go to access the computers they need. It is also where they go to register and be trained as a member of the eRezeki digital work community. They can be single mothers, the unemployed, the underemployed and students. In short, every economically disadvantaged Malaysian.
