Students do their bit for Zoo Negara

ULU KELANG, 26 October 2015: IIUM students did their part for the community recently when a group of 27 members from Mahallah Representative Committee (MRC) of Mahallah Sumayyah participated in a volunteering programme with Zoo Negara to establish relations with the organisation and to create bonding among themselves.

The volunteering activities included sweeping and cleaning the cages of animals and feeding the animals as they experienced the work of  zoo rangers. They felt very excited to touch the animals in the zoo and contributed in a small way to the community.

As part of the programme, the participants were exposed to the zoo surrounding to acquire knowledge about the animals. They were told that the cleanliness of animals must be maintained in terms of cage, food, and health, especially the wild animals, and this should be carried out every day, according to Alif, one of the Zoo Rangers.

The participants had showed their commitment and satisfaction with the programme. They expressed the hope that similar activity would be organised in future for other participants to gain experience.***
