GOMBAK, 16 April 2018: An Open Mic Night session themed “Struggles of Mental Health” will be held this Wednesday (18 April) where audiences can express their thoughts, experiences and confessions through expressive arts and performances.

Held at Seminar Room 2 & 3, IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC), the event will be open from 8.00 p.m. until 10.30 p.m, aimed at increasing awareness on mental health issues among IIUM community.

Its programme manager, Arifah Farhani, told IIUMToday that the expressions could be in various forms like poetry recitation, singing and acting, talent performances, as well as confessions of mental health patients.

“It is important for us to have a clear understanding of mental health, at least from a layman perspective instead of accepting the stigma in our community,” she said.

Of the highlights will be an explanation from an expert in Clinical Psychology.

The programme is an evaluation exercise for students from Event Management Skill course supported by the Centre for International Islamic Culture (CiTRA).

She advised those seeking for further inquiries on the event to contact the person in charge at 01128002082 (Ina). ***
