It’s “Rewang Budi” at Mahallah Halimah

GOMBAK, 5 May 2017: A special event called IIUM “Rewang Budi” succeeded to gather IIUM administrative staffs, lecturers and students to give the opportunity for the university’s administration to strengthen their relationship with the residents.

According to a statement from the Office of Corporate Communication and Marketing, the event was also kicked off with the aim of serving a platform for the administration of Mahallah and the residents to instil the spirit of togetherness and teamwork.

Held at Mahallah Halimah, it was organised by the Deputy Rector’s Office (Student Affairs) and University Centre for Community Engagement (BUDI).

Officiating the event, the President of IIUM, Tan Sri Dr. Rais Yatim, urged the IIUM communities to put into practice the virtues and ethics towards works, deeds and cultural integration.

Among the distinguished guests who graced the occasion were the Rector of IIUM, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin and the Deputy Rector (Student Affairs), Prof. Datuk Dr. Mizan Hitam.

Of the highlight, the residents and Heads of Mahallah as well as Fellows worked hand in hand with the residents to serve food under the supervision of an experienced chef. To ensure cleanliness of the Mahallah compound, students joined in a gotong-royong activity.

It is estimated that almost 1000 participants were served with food from the ‘Rewang”. ***
