KUALA LUMPUR, 4 February 2017: Malaysians share the same vision of the US which is to make Malaysia great again, UMNO Supreme Council member, Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, said today quoting President Donald Trump’s campaign slogan and his inaugural address.
“We want Malaysia to be a great nation again. Like what one great leader used to say, ‘to make America great again’,” Reezal Merican said in his keynote speech at the opening ceremony of National Aspiration and Leadership Summit (NALS) 2017, here at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
Reezal, who is also the Deputy Foreign Minister, said the Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50) will be an engagement of various alignments and to listen to all angles irrespective of whether or not from the establishment – a pro-one or an anti-one.
“By 2050, Malaysia will become Malaysians first. We will not shape this transformation journey for the advantage of one sector at the expense of the other one,” he stated.
“We are progressing towards an inclusive nation by 2050,” Reezal added.
Besides, the Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted that TN50 must be a living proof that brings the people (Malaysians) together.
Founded in 2013, NALS has become an annual event which gathers Malaysian students and leaders under one roof to discuss the aspirations and directions of the country. NALS is aimed at widening the knowledge of participants on current situation of Malaysia and bridging the gap between leaders and students.**
