Two SRC members charged for organising illegal talk

GOMBAK, 28 June 2015: The President of Students’ Representative Council (SRC) 14/15, Hanif Mahpa and the Chairperson of Academic and Intellectual Secretariat, Afiqah M. Zulkifli have been charged under Rule 3 (iii) d of the Students Disciplinary Rule 2004, for illegally organising a second Dialectic Series named ‘GST: Between Economic Growth & Social Justice’ on 13 May recently.

They received a letter from the Office of Legal Adviser (OLA) for allegedly refusing to cancel the event as instructed by the university.

In the second dialectic series, two professional speakers were invited to share the ideas and opinions on the GST issue. They were the CEO of Selangor State Economic Office who is also the Member of Parliament for Pandan, Rafizi Ramli, and thinker-panelist of Jabatan Hal Ehwal Khas (JASA), Lokman Adam.

The issue received rave reviews from various parties especially in the social media which led to the creation of a slogan ‘WeAreAllUIA2’ to show their solidarity for Hanif Mahpa and Afiqah Zulkifli.

Both of them will be attending the hearing session fixed on 7 July 2015 at the Office of Legal Adviser (OLA).***
