KUANTAN: The Orthopaedic Research Laboratory (ORL) will be presented with a certificate by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) on 3 October at the Examinational Annex, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) campus here.
The accreditation is in respect of ORL’s scope covering Musculoskeletal Biocompatibility Test for Orthopaedic Medical Devices.
The presentation ceremony is organised by the Department of Orthopaedics, Traumatology and Rehabilitation, Kulliyyah of Medicine.
ORL is a Bionexus Partner Laboratory and was established in 2003. It is a multidisciplinary research facility dedicated to basic and applied orthopaedics research, focusing on bio-materials.
This is the first research laboratory in IIUM and the first orthopaedic research laboratory in Malaysia to be accredited under Skim Akreditasi Malaysia (SAM) which has met the requirement of MS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 on ‘General requirements for competence of testing and calibration laboratories’.
