GOMBAK: For the first time, two thousand and fourteen forest trees were planted at the Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT), International Islamic University Malaysia.
The planting project is part of ‘IIUM Planting for the Future 2014’ programme which was launched by the Chairperson of Landskap Malaysia, Tun Jeanne Abdullah, the main sponsor of the forest trees. About 300 staffs and 400 students from different kulliyyah of the university participated in the programme.
Alina Fazilah bt Fazi, academic staff of CELPAD told IIUMToday that the objectives of the project are to support the Government of Malaysia in the conservation of the balance ecosystem and at the same time to promote environmental awareness among IIUM community.
She added that this programme started off as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) proposal written by students of the English for Occupational Purposes course. This programme is in collaboration between the Centre for Languages and Pre-university Academic Development (CELPAD) of the International Islamic University Malaysia and Landskap Malaysia.
